Lone Peak shuts out Bingham in season-opening win

As Lone Peak senior safety Jayden Mayberry studied film ahead of Friday's season opener against Bingham, he got the impression his team would have the upperhand.

Why did we choose this game?

Who doesn't love a game between two teams ranked inside the top 10 of the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings in the first week of action?

For a stretch, Bingham was the team to beat in the state, but others have managed to make it much harder on the Miners. Last season, Lone Peak opened up the season with a 20-point win over Bingham on their home field. But now, the Knights must go to South Jordan to get the job done this season.

This is a game between two teams that hoped to have better seasons last year. But with more experience rosters this season on both teams, the 2024 matchup could be a fun battle. Both teams play in challenging regions, and each wants to make their mark, but there can only be one winner.

Picking up that first win is always a boost to the confidence amid a tough season of opponents.
