MADISON, Wis. — Tyler Van Dyke has been named Wisconsin's starting quarterback. Van Dyke, a Miami transfer, had been competing with Braedyn Locke, who started three games last season in place of the injured Tanner Mordecai. Offensive coordinator Phil Longo announced after Wisconsin's morning practice on Wednesday that Van Dyke had won the job. Wisconsin opens its season by hosting Western Michigan on Aug. 30, a Friday night game. The Badgers went 7-6 last year in their first season under Luke Fickell. They are outside the preseason AP Top 25 for the first time since 2016.
