Mary Richards reporting The U. S. Border Patrol is in Salt Lake City today, looking for thousands of new agents in the next few months.
"We're looking for folks aged 18 to 40, of good moral character, and physically fit, who like to work in the outdoors and like to serve their country," says agent Jared Thompson is recruiting at LDS Employment Services in Salt Lake City, before heading to BYU and Utah Valley State College next week.
"We certainly love to hire return missionaries," says Thompson.
Agents fly in choppers, ride on ATVs and boats in a recruiting video for the U. S. Border Patrol. Thompson says Spanish is necessary, but they'll teach that in the Academy. President Bush has asked for 6000 new agents, the department is looking for nearly 9000, to make sure they have enough.
