SALT LAKE CITY — A 28-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash on the UTA TRAX line in the Capitol Hills neighborhood early Sunday.

About 3:33 a.m., police responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and the UTA TRAX line, near the Guadalupe TRAX station, a 500 W. North Temple. Firefighters and police arrived and located a man pinned under his motorcycle with critical injuries. The man died at the scene, according to police.

Based on early investigation, it appears the man misidentified the TRAX line as the roadway, drove down the middle of the rails, where he crashed into the support rails, police said.

No UTA TRAX trains were involved in the incident.
