NANTERRE, France — The French put on an incredible show at the Olympic swimming pool, packing it with screaming, flag-waving fans. There were larger-than-life cutout faces waving in the crowd and The Tricolore painted all over actual faces. Thousands strong, they cheered on beloved countryman Léon Marchand to four individual gold medals then a bronze in the 4x100-meter medley relay to cap his sensational week. So now, everybody is eager to see what Los Angeles organizers can do using SoFi Stadium, where 30,000 fans can watch Olympic swimming. Can it match the atmosphere at La Defense Arena for the Paris Games?
