MONTIGNY-LE-BRETONNEUX, France — The British trio of Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane broke the world record in the women's team sprint while beating New Zealand in a head-to-head showdown for the gold medal open the track cycling program at the Paris Olympics. The trio of Rebecca Petch, Shaane Fulton and Ellesse Andrews were left with silver. The German team of Pauline Grabosch, Lea Friedrich and Emma Hinze that has dominated the event since Tokyo Games beat the Netherlands for bronze at a warm, humid Vélodrome National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines just outside of Paris.
