MONTIGNY-LE-BRETONNEUX, France — Alise Willoughby is back at the Summer Olympics for the fourth time to compete in BMX racing for the United States. She is trying to win the gold medal that not only has escaped her own grasp but that of her husband, Sam, a standout BMX racer in his own right until a fluke crash left him paralyzed. Willoughby won silver in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro but crashed out of semifinals at the London and Tokyo Games. The 33-year-old from Minnesota is the oldest rider in the field, but she is also the reigning world champion and arguably the best she has ever been on the bike.
