SAINT-DENIS, France — Dozens of hurdlers and sprinters will get a second chance at their once-in-a-lifetime moment thanks to a new rule at the Olympic track competition. Welcome to the repechage rounds. Starting this week at the Olympic track meet, another try will be available for all hurdlers, along with sprinters who don't move on from their opening heats in the 200 through 1,500 meters. Some have never heard of repechage. Others can't pronounce. Most agree they want no part of it unless something disastrous happens Based on a French word that literally means "second chance," the new round means eliminated racers will get to run again, and the winner advances.
