TOOELE, Utah (AP) -- Utah State University has named the first dean for its Tooele campus.

The university picked Gary Straquadine, associate dean of USU's College of Agriculture and a former vocational agriculture instructor, for the post.

Straquadine, 52, will start on May 1. He came to USU in 1987.

The nationwide search for the new dean began last summer. Ronda Menlove, USU vice provost for Regional Campuses and Distance Education, says Straquadine was selected because of his scholarly and administrative credentials.
