OGDEN — Ogden Canyon was shut down Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle lost control on the snowy roads and damaged the barriers.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said troopers responded to an area of state Route 39 where a van lost control at about 2 p.m. and collided with "several" barriers, which sent the barriers into the river. No one was injured in the crash, Roden said.

The Utah Department of Transportation estimated the closure would last about three hours while the barriers are replaced.

The Weber County Sheriff's Office encouraged drivers to slow down and be safe as the area is experiencing heavy snowfall causing road conditions to be slick.

Snowbasin Resort said on social media the closure will impact the UTA Ski Bus times from Ogden, but the Weber Canyon and Davis County bus routes will not be affected.
