PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — The Olympics are moving closer to adding a mixed-team medal for golf. It wouldn't be until 2028 at Riviera in Los Angeles. The proposal is for the men to finish on Saturday the first week, play a mixed team competition over two days and then the women's competition would start. The hope is to get this finalized as soon as next month. Still to be determined is how many teams would play and the format. An extra competition is needed because the International Olympic Committee typically frowns on awarding two medals from one competition, such as combining scores.
