WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals rallied to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 and pick up a big victory for their playoff hopes. They moved four points back of the Flyers for third place in the Metropolitan Division and have two extra games to play. Alex Ovechkin scored his 839th career goal and helped set up John Carlson's go-ahead goal as the Capitals came back from a 2-0 deficit. Washington has won five of its past seven to stay in the race. The Flyers' hold on a spot is more tenuous than before with a week left until the NHL trade deadline.
