SOUTH JORDAN — One person was killed after a car hit the cement barrier on I-15 in South Jordan Friday evening.
Utah Highway Patrol officials said a Toyota heading south on the freeway "for an unknown reason" went across multiple lanes before hitting the right-side concrete barrier near 11400 South about 6 p.m. The vehicle bounced off the barrier and struck an SUV that was merging onto I-15.
Both vehicles came to a stop on the right shoulder of the road. The Toyota driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition but later died.
The 11400 South southbound on-ramp was temporarily closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.
