LAKE CHARLES, La. — Led by Christian Shumate's 18 points, the McNeese Cowboys defeated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 87-71 on Saturday night. Incarnate Word was without four players who were suspended by the Southland Conference after a postgame brawl with Texas A&M-Commerce on Monday. The Cowboys improved to 24-3 with the victory and the Cardinals fell to 8-19.
