SALT LAKE CITY – A man from Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to flying into Salt Lake City in order to meet up with a 13-year-old boy for sex.
According to court documents, Dusty Junior Goodspeed, 58, began messaging the profile of an undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old boy on Facebook Messenger in September 2022. Goodspeed began texting the agent "messages that were sexual in nature" that same month, the FBI said.
The man flew into the Salt Lake City International Airport in December 2022, intending "to spend the weekend with a 13-year-old and have sex with him," according to the Department of Justice, and he continued communicating with the undercover agent until he landed at the airport and got to baggage claim, where police arrested him.
Goodspeed, charged with attempted coercion and enticement, and travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, was sentenced to 15 years in prison as a result of the guilty plea. He will also be on supervised release for the rest of his life.
