SALT LAKE CITY — Officers are looking for a suspect or suspects after one person was shot and critically injured in Salt Lake City on Monday evening.

The shooting happened near 1413 S. 1200 West, a residential area, just before 6:45 p.m., Salt Lake police said. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound and administered medical help.

Police initially said the person's injury did not appear life-threatening, but they later reported the injury "is now considered critical" after hospital staff evaluated him.

Police said the motive of the shooting is unknown at this time.
