SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police are investigating a death after receiving reports of an unresponsive person in a Glendale neighborhood and "evidence of gunfire" on Saturday night.

About 9:20 p.m., police responded to reports of a person lying unresponsive on the ground near Wenco Circle and Wenco Drive. Salt Lake City Fire and emergency medical personnel found the person but despite their efforts, the individual died.

Evidence of gunfire was located at the scene but "the circumstances related to this case are unknown at this point," police said in a statement Sunday.

The person's identity, age and cause of death were not released.
