SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a shooting at a downtown convenience store early Tuesday.

A man was shot near 400 East and 200 South about 2 a.m. The man was taken to a local hospital to be treated for an injury not considered to be life-threatening, according to a statement from Salt Lake police.

"Initially, officers had reason to believe the shooting may have occurred during a robbery. However, after further investigative work, officers now believe the shooting may have occurred after a potential argument between the victim and suspect," police said.

Information about the victim was not immediately available. Police did not release a description of the the gunman.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 801-799-3000 or use the city protect app.
