NEW JERSEY – Did you know that deer can jump as far as 30 feet? It's true. If they have enough momentum, they can truly soar through the air.
I grew up next to an apple orchard, and I can't tell you how many times I saw deer jump over the 7-foot fences that surrounded the place. Of course, it didn't always work out so well. There were a couple of times that I saw deer bounce off the fence, tumble to the ground, then scurry off in shame.
One thing I've never seen, however, is a deer leap into action to prevent the sale of an automobile. Check out this amazing video:
The jump featured in the video is impressive enough. The deer comes hurtling out of the trees, leaps over the first vehicle in the driveway, flies past a second vehicle and then lands in the bed of the truck. It then executes an impressive dismount and flees the scene.
But the backstory, as described in the video's caption, is downright bizarre. A man in Mays Landing, New Jersey, listed his 2007 Chevy Silverado on Facebook Marketplace. A buyer called and said he was extremely interested, but asked repeatedly if the truck's body was in as good of condition as it appeared in the photos.
Have you seen this?
The man selling the Silverado assured the buyer that it was in mint condition, so the person got the necessary cash and drove down to pick up his new truck. That's him pulling up in the white Tahoe at the beginning of the video. The moment he opened his door to go check out this "mint condition" truck, the maniac deer took to the air, dented the bed panel and left plenty of scratches along the way.
You can't make this stuff up.
