SALT LAKE CITY — Isaac Wilson can officially say he's done something his NFL brother Zach never did: win a state championship.

The Utah commit ran for three touchdowns and passed for two more in a 41-27 win over Skyridge in the 6A title game at Rice-Eccles Stadium a year after losing to the Falcons in the same game.

"It means the world to me," Wilson said. "I've been trying to get these boys back on top. We've been here so many years and now we finally got it back."

The Chargers won three straight championships from 2018-20, thanks in part to Wilson's brothers, Josh and Micah, but lost in 2021 to Lone Peak and in 2022 to Skyridge to set up Friday's return to the summit.

Corner Canyon went 13-0 against in-state opponents this season en route to a No. 18 national ranking. The prolific offense led by Wilson scored under 40 points just twice on the season and dropped 27 in the first half alone on Friday thanks to a signature 30-second drive to end the second quarter.

"I can't tell you how many practices we ran where we've gone off that situation: 30 seconds left, one time out," Wilson said. "We've got to get down the field, we've got to score and we just execute on all cylinders."

The well-oiled Chargers machine scored first and never trailed against Skyridge and shut the door on a late comeback attempt by the Falcons with a 54-yard touchdown run from Wilson with 6:59 left in the fourth quarter.

"Isaac is someone we've leaned on all year offensively and we just kept trying to feed him," head coach Eric Kjar said. "They were kind of giving us some stuff where we felt like we could keep running our draw play and he just answered the bell. We always tease him that he's not that fast, but he showed a little bit (of speed) there."

Wilson finished with 251 passing yards, completing 15 of 23 attempts and 192 rushing yards on 20 carries. His Skyridge counterpart, Jackson Stevens, had 377 passing yards and two touchdowns, but the Falcons were forced to kick field goals instead of scoring touchdowns on two instances and came up short in the end.

The final title game Friday at Rice-Eccles is the 5A championship between Bountiful and Timpview.
