OGDEN — A Salt Lake man faces multiple felony charges after police say he asked multiple minors for nude photos on social media and had child sexual abuse material on his phone.
Robert Farnsworth, 58, was charged in 2nd District Court with six counts of enticing a minor and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, both second-degree felonies.
According to a police booking affidavit, Farnsworth exchanged messages on two social media platforms with a girl he said he believed to be 13 years old. He sent her sexually explicit messages and asked her for nude photos of herself multiple times between Sept. 14 and Oct. 3, the affidavit states.
Officers from the Weber County Sheriff's Office arrested Farnsworth on Oct. 4 and said he admitted to asking the 13-year-old for nude photos, according to the affidavit. Farnsworth told police he had contacted other girls on social media to ask them for nude photos as well, and he showed police multiple nude images on his phone, the affidavit states.
After getting a search warrant for Farnsworth's phone, police later found four files depicting child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation, according to the affidavit.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 2.
