LEHI — The final undefeated team in 6A is undefeated no more after the Pleasant Grove went to Skyridge and defeated the Falcons 34-31 in overtime after scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter.

Junior quarterback Carson Rasmussen was involved in all five Vikings touchdowns on the night, running in one in the first quarter and then throwing four touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and overtime to come back from a 20-7 deficit.

The Falcons seemed to be in control after shutting out Pleasant Grove in the second and third quarters, but were unable to seal the deal after a pair of untimely turnovers that gave the Vikings ample opportunities for a late comeback.

Skyridge quarterback Jackson Stevens threw an interception to Tualau Wolfgramm in the red zone with 5:09 left in the third quarter, and then the Falcons fumbled the ball with 6:08 left in the game on a fourth-down attempt on their own 30-yard line.

Wolfrgramm went on to score Pleasant Grove's first touchdown of the fourth quarter on a 76-yard house call, and then Makai Peterson gave the Vikings a 21-20 lead after a fumble recovery on a toe-tapping touchdown with 5:21 remaining.

The game was far from over, though, with both teams scoring another touchdown in the final five minutes to force overtime tied 28-all. The Vikings defense was able to hold Skyridge to a field goal in overtime, and then Rasmussen found Bronco Winterton in the back of the end zone for the walk-off touchdown.

"I had to keep my composure," Rasmussen said of the comeback win. "I was getting a little frustrated at the beginning, but then I just knew my line would step up and they did — they all did. Receivers stepped up, running backs (stepped up), everyone did. And our defense was clutch out there."

The Vikings move to 8-1 just two years removed from a 1-10 season in 2021, when head coach Taylor Walkenhorst said a large portion of his team could have easily decided to transfer but instead committed to the program, culminating in Friday's historic win.

"They just kept battling and getting better, and they stayed," Walkenhorst said of his 2021 sophomores who are now seniors. "They stayed, they believed, and they're making history now."

Skyridge moves to 8-1 on the season with its first loss, creating a three-way tie for first place in Region 3 with the Falcons, Vikings and American Fork Cavemen, all with 3-1 records in region play. The Falcons and Cavemen face off next week in the regular-season finale, while Pleasant Grove takes on Lehi.
