SALT LAKE CITY — Conference play continues for the majority of teams across the country, which means there are plenty of big games to watch during Week 6 of college football.
No. 12 Oklahoma at No. 3 Texas
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. MDT (ABC)
The Red River Rivalry is upon us as Oklahoma heads to Texas for their annual shootout. The Longhorns took last year's matchup with ease as they blew out Oklahoma 49-0. Looking at Texas' season thus far, a back-to-back win might be written in the stars. But don't discount the Sooners too soon as they also enter the rivalry game with an undefeated season and an offense that posts 510 yards per game.
No. 23 LSU at No. 21 Missouri
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. MDT (ESPN)
LSU suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Ole Miss last week despite an overall impressive game for the Tigers and quarterback Jayden Daniels. Hoping to bounce back, this game will come down to a battle of the quarterbacks.
Daniels, alongside Missouri's Brady Cook, have had impressive starts to the 2023 season, with both throwing over 1,400 yards. Daniels may have Cook beat, throwing 1,710 yards and 16 touchdowns, but Cook dominates by completing 75% of his passes as well as having no interceptions thus far.
No. 13 Washington State at UCLA
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. MDT (PAC12)
Both teams are coming off a bye week and are ready to get back on the field. Washington State held onto a nail-biting 38-35 victory over Oregon State during Week 4, and UCLA fell to Utah 14-7.
Going into this game, the Cougars' offense has been dominated by their passing game, which accounts for 406 of their 534 yards per game. Meanwhile, the Bruins have a more diverse offense as 205 of their 456 yards per game come from running the ball. These differences will make or break the game for either team.
No. 11 Alabama at Texas A&M
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1:30 p.m. MDT (CBS)
This game will be Texas A&M's first real test of the season as they welcome Alabama to Kyle Field. In this series, the Crimson Tide holds the record 12-3 over Texas A&M; however, the Aggies will not be going down without a fight as their defense ranks No. 1 in the SEC and is ranked third in the nation for third-down stops. If Alabama loses, it would mark the first time since 2007 it has had two losses this early in the season.
No. 10 Notre Dame at No. 25 Louisville
Saturday, Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. MDT (ABC)
Notre Dame will head to Louisville to face yet another ranked team. The Cardinals are currently 5-0, their best start since 2013. Facing the Fighting Irish will be a daunting task for Louisville, though.
Getting off to strong offensive start has been a strength for the Cardinals thus far. If they can continue with a strong start on their home field, they might be able to take the win. Nonetheless, Notre Dame proves to be a team that can perform well under pressure due to having played a stacked schedule this season.
