(KSL News) More non-residents are receiving Utah concealed weapon permits than residents, creating a serious legal problem.

The Bureau of Criminal Identification says Utah has no way of making daily checks to see if someone's permit has been revoked because of out-of-state arrests.

State officials estimate 58 percent of the more than 16-thousand concealed weapons permit applications received this year will come from out-of-state residents.
