MIDWAY — A cyclist from Sandy was hit and killed by a tour bus in Midway Friday morning.

Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said it received reports of a cyclist hit by a "touring bus" at 10 a.m. on Pine Canyon Road, a paved mountain road near Midway. Further details on what led to the collision were not immediately available.

The cyclist was in critical condition when officers arrived on the scene, but he later died in the hospital, the sheriff's office said in a statement. The man was described as an adult man from Sandy, but his name was not released.

Deputies say no one on the bus was injured in the crash.

Pine Canyon Road was closed for several hours while officers conducted a crash investigation.
