MILLCREEK — A 60-year-old man died Tuesday in an accidental cooking fire, according to Unified Fire Authority.
Unified fire officials said the blaze occurred in a box trailer near 4072 S. Main Street in Millcreek at 11:15 p.m. Firefighters were called and worked to put out the flames, but the temporary shelter the man was living in was a total loss.
Firefighters found the man's body about 10 minutes after the fire was out, fire officials said.
Investigators said the fire was accidental in nature, but it is believed it stemmed from a cooking fire. Other details about the fire, including why the man wasn't able to get out of the trailer, were not available Tuesday.
The man's pet dog survived and was taken in by neighbors, fire officials said.
The victim's identity has not been released.
