School may be in session, but you can still take your kids on meaningful trips. If your youngster likes to play doctor or seems at all interested in a medical career, congratulations! They've just been accepted to Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine's incoming class.

On Saturday, Nov. 4, Noorda-COM will have its grand opening and you and your child are cordially invited to attend. You'll get to visit medical simulation rooms, talk to student doctors and experience medicine through the college's "mini-med school" and other activities. Let your child experience what a real career in medicine could be like long before they're in college.

Even if becoming a doctor isn't in their professional plans, they still might benefit from exposure to the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) field. One study from the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute found that early STEM education can help children develop several skills, including problem-solving, collaboration and creation, imagination and more.

The mini-med school will feed their curiosity and possibly fan a flame that could lead to a future in the medical field. Here's a quick look at what you'll experience at the grand opening.

Medical simulations and hands-on activities

Come tour the four-story facility and visit special areas, such as the customized Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine lab, Noorda-COM's learning pods, an AR/VR "holodeck" and more. Your child will get to experience medicine through discovery activities and other hands-on experiences.
