ONTARIO, Canada — Have you ever heard of someone being described as the "smartest person in the room?" There have been times in my life when I'm keenly aware of this phenomenon.
For example, there was the time in college when I was playing a card game with friends. I wanted to sound like a card pro, so I sprinkled in terminology that I had gleaned from movies like "Ocean's Eleven."
Most of the people sitting around the table would nod approvingly at my comments, as their card knowledge also mainly came from Hollywood. One girl gave me strange looks throughout the evening and ultimately called me out on one of my blunders.
She was clearly the smartest person in the room.
In this video, it seems like the dog might be the smartest person in the proverbial room:
While the ATV driver attempts to drive up the ramp into the truck, the dog watches with a resignation that implies it knows something bad is about to happen. Perhaps the dog has seen this unfortunate situation play out before?
As the ATV falls backward and the driver frantically tries to avoid injury, his buddies just stand there watching, in a stupor. Not a good showing for any of the humans. But the dog ambles across the lawn toward them, presumably, to explain where they went wrong and to help them load the ATV more successfully on the next attempt.
