TAYLORSVILLE — Taylorsville police arrested two men Saturday night who allegedly attacked two other men at random, damaged one man's car and nearly hit several people in the street.

Alexis Ruben Conchola Garcia, 21, and Jose Canchola, 20, were arrested for investigation of rioting and interfering with an arrest. Garcia was also arrested for investigation of additional charges of aggravated assault, three counts of criminal mischief, two counts of assault, intoxication, driving on a suspended license, and failing to report an accident.

On Saturday about 9:45 p.m., Taylorsville police were called to the area of 4200 South and 1400 West on a report of an assault. Emergency dispatchers were told that several people "were fighting and one of the individuals has a hammer. Dispatch also advised witnesses could hear glass being smashed," according to a police booking affidavit.

Witnesses told police that three men had been drinking and were fighting, when they injured two other men who were not involved, the affidavit states.

"The witnesses stated the men who were fighting threw bricks through the windshield of a vehicle and then threw a brick through the back window of a vehicle parked across the street," according to the affidavit.

The first victim told police he was trying to park his vehicle, but the men who were fighting got mad at him and threw beer bottles at him, police stated. After throwing a brick through his windshield, Garcia drove his SUV into the victim's car and then "drove away and tried to run over several individuals in the street," the affidavit states. The second victim told police he also had beer bottles thrown at his head, the affidavit states.

Police spotted the SUV on the Meadowbrook Expressway near 800 West. Garcia and Canchola were taken into custody a short time later.

Updated conditions of the two victims were not immediately available.
