LAYTON — A water main break in Layton caused major delays after southbound lanes were shut down on I-15 on Tuesday during the evening commute.
About 4 p.m., a water line under or near the freeway burst, causing the road pavement to bubble up between Hill Field Road and 500 North, Utah Department of Transportation spokesman John Gleason said. The pavement was not stable and Layton crews were assessing the damage, he said.
The road was initially expected to remain closed for more than 10 hours, but Layton city officials said at 5:45 p.m. the road was reopened.
