LAS VEGAS — Philadelphia 76ers big man Paul Reed has signed a three-year offer sheet with the Utah Jazz, according to multiple reports.

Now it's a waiting game to see if the Sixers will match the offer for the restricted free agent that could be worth up to $23 million. Philadelphia has until 9:59 p.m. MDT Sunday to match and retain Reed or let him go to Utah.

Reed, who is lovingly referred to as "Bball Paul," averaged over three steals and three blocks per 100 possessions last season in 11 minutes per game. His 20.5% rebound rate was top 10 in the league.

Reed would provide frontcourt depth off the bench for the Jazz, especially after the team traded away Damian Jones for cap space last week.

So will the Sixers match?

Philadelphia signed center Mo Bamba and brought back veteran big man Montrezl Harrell as well; those moves could make Reed expendable, especially at the price. If the 76ers do match the offer, they would also exceed the $165 million luxury tax threshold — something that will bring with it an additional $14 million in luxury tax penalties.

Also, a unique provision in the offer may make it more likely for the Sixers to let Reed walk, too.

According to ESPN, the final two years of the deal won't be guaranteed unless if Reed's team advances to the conference semifinals in 2023-24. Philadelphia is much more likely to get to the second round next season than Utah — and thus being on the hook for the full contract.

The offer sheet could potentially make it a one-year deal for the Jazz. That, or they'd get to enjoy a playoff run with a player that would likely become quick fan favorite.
