SALT LAKE CITY — Thunderstorms across the Wasatch Front caused multiple power outages in Davis, Weber, Salt Lake and Utah counties on Monday afternoon, Rocky Mountain Power said in a statement.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman David Eskelsen said a "line of strong thunderstorms" that moved east across the Wasatch Front Monday started causing power outages about 5:30 p.m.

At one point 15,902 customers were out of service. Eskelsen said crews were working to assess damage and began restoration work, but warned those without service to expect repairs to take some time. By 10 p.m., power had been restored to most households but about 400 were still affected.

Eskelsen urges everyone to remember downed power lines can be dangerous. He said people should stay away from them and report downed lines and power outages to Rocky Mountain Power.
