WALLSBURG, Wasatch County — Troopers have identified the two victims of a fatal head-on crash last week on U.S. 189 near Deer Creek Reservoir as Jeremy C. Pope, 46, and Hanani Aiono, 26, both of Midway.

The two were killed on April 18 when the 2022 Lucid Air that Pope was driving south crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a 2004 GMC Yukon, being driven by Aiono, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety.

Both vehicles came to a rest off the northbound shoulder, where the Lucid caught fire and was engulfed in flames, troopers said. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other vehicles, a Jeep Patriot and a Subaru Crosstrek, were also traveling north at the time of the crash and were damaged during the collision. The drivers of those vehicles sustained "very minor injuries," according to troopers.
