SALT LAKE CITY — Blancanieves or Snow White? It doesn't matter in which language you refer to the classic fairy tale character — Ballet West has you covered.
The ballet company's performance of "Snow White" will be available with narrations in both languages this weekend. The show is part of the company's family classic series, which unlike traditional ballet, features a story narration.
"It's really meant for young kids and families as sort of a ballet 101 or an introduction to ballet," said Andrew Goldberg, the company's senior director of external affairs.
"Snow White" will be the third time Ballet West has offered the series in both English and Spanish. Goldberg said the Spanish narration has been a hit with families in the past.
"They really enjoyed bringing their children to see a presentation of an art form with Spanish narration. And they were thrilled to be able to introduce them to ballet in a very friendly way for their children," he said. "We want communities to feel very welcome at Ballet West performances, and we felt that by having these performances in Spanish, it was one step along the way of diversifying our outreach and our audience."
More information about the show, including ticket purchases, is available on Ballet West's website. English performances will take place Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. The Spanish performance is Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m.
