If you thought flowers were just that—flowers—you're about to learn something new! According to almanac.com, flowers were used in the Victorian era "to deliver messages that couldn't be spoken aloud."
It even meant something in the manner flowers were delivered. If someone sent flowers to answer a question, the messenger would hand over the flowers using a certain hand. For example, if they were handed over to the recipient with the right hand, it meant yes, and the left hand meant no.
