TOOELE — Police say a man who was driving the wrong way in a minivan crashed into a Tooele business Monday morning, killing a woman working in the building and injuring another employee.

Tooele police on Tuesday identified the employee, as Roseann Davis, 51, of Tooele. No other updates about the crash were provided Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash at Ensign Engineering and Land Survey, located at 169 N. Main, shortly after 11:20 a.m. Monday, according to Tooele Police Cpl. Colbey Bentley. He said a man driving a silver minivan was reportedly traveling north on Main Street in the southbound lanes before driving across a curb and crashing into the building.

Davis was working at her desk at the time was struck and pinned underneath the minivan. Officers and other emergency personnel were able to move the vehicle off of her; however, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Bentley said.

The driver of the minivan and a man also working at the business were also injured, Bentley added. Police did not immediately disclose the severity of their injuries, other than to say both were taken to a local hospital. The name and ages of the driver and injured employees were not released.

An employee of a neighboring business told KSL-TV that they are "devastated" by the crash, adding that Davis was a "wonderful" person and mother of two children. Bentley added that Davis's family is "well known" in the community.

"To have something like this happen, it's heartbreaking," he said.

The crash also stunned people who work in the area. Jennifer Boyd, who owns a beauty Salon just across the street from Ensign Engineering and Land Survey, added that she's still shocked over what happened.

"Tooele is a very small community. It's going to affect a lot of people, it just is," she said. "I just feel terrible. You don't expect to go to work one day and die."

Bentley said police are still investigating why the driver was traveling in the wrong direction before crashing into the business.

"That's the biggest thing we are looking into," Bentley said. "Did this happen because of intoxication, distraction or a medical episode? There are a lot of things we are working on right now."
