ST. GEORGE — The San Juan Broncos dominated Beaver for the majority of the game in a 41-21 win in the 2A state championship game Friday at Greater Zion Stadium.

The Broncos got out to a 27-0 lead in the first quarter before Beaver was able to get back in the game in the second quarter and bring the score to 27-14 at the half.

San Juan quarterback Parker Snyder ran in two touchdowns and passed for another in the first-quarter explosion, while receiver Tate Gale had the two scores for Beaver — one on the ground and one through the air.

"We knew the mistakes that we made, and a lot of those were on me," Snyder said of the second quarter. "We knew if we just played smart and played our game that we'd come out and finish this one."

The Broncos came out looking to slam the door shut on Beaver in the second half, but a promising drive to the 2-yard line ended in a string of penalties and a turnover on downs.

Snyder made sure his team took care of business on the following drive, however, and delivered a touchdown pass and ran a 2-point conversion to go up 35-14 at the end of the third quarter.

"That was huge," Snyder said. "Because then we were able to get the ball back and score and I feel like that's kind of what put the nail in the coffin that way."

The junior quarterback got his third rushing score of the day — and fifth touchdown overall — with 7:52 remaining in the fourth quarter to dispel any remaining doubt, up 41-14. Gale got his third touchdown of the day with 3:15 remaining as a consolation touchdown for the Beavers.
