MILLCREEK — A man already on probation for punching a police officer in the throat in April has now been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

Jared Harlan Mitchell Hall, 18, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of rape of a child, sodomy on a child and two counts of forcible sexual abuse. He is accused of molesting a young girl playing in his house.

In April, when he was 17, Hall was charged in 3rd District Juvenile Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony, according to juvenile court records obtained by KSL.com.

Murray police were called on April 23 to investigate a domestic violence situation involving Hall. As police attempted to take Hall into custody, he fought with them, punching one officer in the face and the other in the throat, charging documents state.

As he was being placed in a patrol car, Hall asked the officer, "How does your jaw feel? I hope I fractured that," according to the charges.

The officer later went to the hospital and discovered he had suffered a fractured larynx, court records state.

"Four days following the above-described incident, (the officer) was still experiencing a great deal of pain in his throat, was still struggling to swallow and could not speak louder than a raspy whisper," the charges state. "(The officer) states that doctors have told him his recovery will be painful as the injury must heal over time."

Hall was still on probation for that incident during last week's arrest. His probation officer told Unified police that "Jared refuses to take his medications for his mental health," a police booking affidavit states.

Police say Hall is under the guardianship of the Utah Division of Services for People with Disabilities for life, but was recently removed from the home he was placed in for making threats against the family.
