AROUND THE SHIELD — Devin Lloyd is finding NFL life isn't so bad, after all.
The former Utah star-turned-first-round NFL draft pick had another breakout night in Week 2 of his rookie season, pulling down his first career interception and adding six tackles with three pass breakups in the Jaguars' 24-0 shut out of the Colts.
No surprise from the 10-time All American, including eight different first-team honors in 2021.
"I feel like I put a lot of work in college, and it's helping me right now," Lloyd said in the Jacksonville locker room after the game. "I'm just going to continue to try to get better."
A week after posting 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, in his regular-season debut — a 28-22 loss to the Washington Commanders — Lloyd showed he can play coverages, too.
In the first quarter of the blowout win, Lloyd pulled down one of Matt Ryan's passes intended for Ashton Dulin, and returned it 13 yards to the Jacksonville 32-yard line for his first career pick.
About nine minutes and 15 plays later, Trevor Lawrence found Christian Kirk for a 10-yard score to put Jacksonville up 7-0, and the Jags never looked back in rolling up 331 yards of offense and holding the Colts to 2-of-10 on third downs.
"It's a great feeling," Lloyd said of his interception. "It's what you work for, to keep the momentum in our favor and going on our side. It felt good, felt amazing. Now back to work."

In all, the Jaguars forced three interceptions and two more fumbles, a havoc defense that has Lloyd at the center of the maelstrom under defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell.
"That's something that coach harps on every day, every week," Lloyd said. "When it's on our mind and the opportunities are in the air, we've got to take advantage of it."
Jacksonville has won just four total games over the past three years. If Lloyd and the defense continue to play like they have, more may follow for a group that is "eager to win," head coach Mike Pederson said.
"They played extremely well," Pederson added. "My hat's off to Mike Caldwell; great defensive plan, and the guys executed it during the week in practice.
"For them to fly around today and do what they did, get after the quarterback, create turnovers … things are starting to click for guys. There's still a lot of football ahead of us. We've got to play this team again, and another great opponent next week."
Here's a look at how other former local college and high school football standouts performed in Week 2 of the 2022 NFL regular season.
