HOLLADAY — Unified police are investigating a fatal crash involving a 74-year-old woman and a semitractor-trailer owned by Coca-Cola.

About 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, a big rig was making a left turn out of the Macey's parking lot, 4530 Highland Dr., to go north on Highland, when a Honda Accord going south went under the trailer, said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler.

The roof of the Honda was ripped off and the driver, Linda Shelton Beeman, 74, of Millcreek, was killed. The car rolled another 100 to 150 yards before coming to a stop.

A driver-assist company was alerted to the airbags going off and called police after a representative was unable to get ahold of the driver, Cutler said. The driver of the semi also called police a short time later.

The investigation into how fast the Honda was traveling at the time of the crash and who had the right of way was ongoing Tuesday. Highland Drive between 4500 South to 4600 South was closed in both directions for several hours.

On Facebook, a family member posted a brief statement.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandma and friend. We are all still reeling from the tragic news we received this morning. Details are still coming in and hopefully we will know more as time goes on. We thank all for their condolences and prayers. Details in regard to funeral arrangements will be released as they become available," the post states.
