EAGLE MOUNTAIN – A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical condition after he was hit by a car while he was riding a motorized scooter Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at the intersection of Horizon Drive and Hummer Drive in Eagle Mountain. Police say the teen was westbound when he rolled through a stop sign and was hit by a southbound vehicle.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that the teen was thrown about 80 to 90 feet and sustained critical injuries. He was flown to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Cannon said the driver of the truck did not appear to be negligent.
