LOGAN — A Cache County man faces over a dozen felonies accusing him of possessing child pornography.
Chad Hubbard, 38, of Providence, was charged Wednesday with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
An investigation began in April 2021 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from Yahoo that a suspected child pornography file was shared on an email account. Logan police later began an investigation, with police viewing the files and confirming it was child pornography.
The name on the email account was Hubbard's, and investigators later found that a Utah phone number was listed in the Yahoo email account, according to a police booking affidavit, and an IP address listed in the email account was registered to Hubbard. Yahoo later provided investigators access to the email account, where they reported finding child porn files.
Investigators served a search warrant on Hubbard's home Tuesday, where they allegedly found a USB drive containing some of Hubbard's personal information which police say was found on the email account with the illegal material. Police also reported finding dozens of child porn videos on the drive, the affidavit states.
Police searched Hubbard's phone and discovered "over 800 images" of children in minimal clothing, with many of the images containing nudity, according to charging documents.
Hubbard later spoke to police and said he had been locked out of his Yahoo email account, and he denied being in possession of child pornography, the affidavit says.
Hubbard was booked into the Cache County Jail where he is being held without bail.
