OREM — Fardaws Aimaq added another double-double Thursday night.
Aimaq recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds to carry Utah Valley to a 66-56 win over UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday night.
Tim Fuller had 13 points and nine rebounds for Utah Valley (12-6, 3-3 Western Athletic Conference). Le'Tre Darthard also scored 13 points and Connor Harding had 12 points.
"I was proud of a lot of guys on our team," Utah Valley coach Mark Madsen said. "I thought Jaden came in and gave us a huge boost off the bench. Jaden is a guy that just consistently works on his craft every day and made some big threes for us, helped control tempo, and did a nice job defensively. Obviously, Fardaws with the six assists, Fuller with a good game, and Le'Tre knocking down some big shots. There were a lot of great individual performances tonight."
Xavier Johnson scored a season-high 21 points for the Vaqueros (6-12, 1-5 WAC). Mike Adewunmi added 11 points and six rebounds, and Justin Johnson had 10 points.
Utah Valley continues WAC play at home against Lamar on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Schofield scores 22 to carry Dixie State over Lamar 71-55
ST. GEORGE — Hunter Schofield had 22 points and 12 rebounds as Dixie State defeated Lamar 71-55 on Thursday night.
Frank Staine had 11 points for Dixie State (9-10, 2-4 WAC).
Lincoln Smith had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinals (2-16, 0-5 WAC), whose losing streak reached nine games. C.J. Roberts added 12 points. Mason Senigaur had seven rebounds.
Overton scores 21 to carry Weber State past Idaho State
OGDEN — Jamison Overton tied his season high with 21 points as Weber State rolled past Idaho State 95-63 on Thursday night.
Koby McEwen had 13 points and six rebounds for Weber State (13-5, 6-1 Big Sky). Dillon Jones added 13 points. Seikou Sisoho Jawara had 12 points.
Weber State scored 48 points in the first half, a season high for the team.
Liam Sorensen had 16 points for the Bengals (3-13, 1-6 Big Sky). Emmit Taylor III added 10 points.
