SCIPIO, Millard County — One person was killed and five others were seriously injured Friday in a crash in Millard County, troopers said.

About 5:30 a.m., a pickup truck pulling a large horse trailer was driving south on I-15 near Scipio when it came upon a semitrailer that was moving slowly as it climbed a grade. The pickup hit the back of the semitrailer and went into the median, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The right-front passenger of the truck was thrown into the back seat and was found deceased, troopers said. She was identified by friends of the family as JuliAnne Anderson, of Kamas.

The driver of the truck and a child in the back seat, as well as three children in the sleeping portion of the horse trailer, all suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital.
