SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was hit by a vehicle and killed Monday morning in Salt Lake City.
The crash happened about 6:39 a.m. as the vehicle was driving west on North Temple. Officers and paramedics performed life-saving measures, but the pedestrian died on scene, Salt Lake police said in a statement. Her name has not yet been released.
Police said the driver involved in the crash remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No arrests have been made but the death remains under investigation.
After the crash, Salt Lake police asked drivers to avoid 600 West to 800 West on North Temple while they investigated the crash. The road reopened about 11:40 a.m.
The Utah Transit Authority also established a bus bridge between the North Temple and Jackson/Euclid stops during the investigation, as a spokesman for UTA confirmed the pedestrian landed on the train tracks in the area of 750 W. North Temple after being hit.
The trains resumed service about 11 a.m.
