PAYSON — A teenage boy was hospitalized Tuesday after he was stabbed by another boy in front of Payson High School, police said.
Police received reports of a stabbing at the high school, 1050 S. Main, and responded at 2:43 p.m., Payson Police Sgt. Noemi Sandoval said. Officers arrived and found a teenage boy with stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery.
The boy's injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, according to Sandoval.
The boy had apparently been stabbed by another boy who had fled the scene, Sandoval said, but he was identified and later found detained. Police were talking with both boys to find out why the incident occurred and what led up to it.
The stabbing occurred just after school had been released for the day in front of the high school, according to police.
The identities of those involved were not released.
