PURDUE — Here are a few important facts to know about Purdue University. First, it's located in Indiana. Second, the mascot is Purdue Pete, a hulking boilermaker who was voted the "creepiest mascot in America." And third, the school's cheerleaders are known for their impeccable belly-flopping skills.

You can see evidence of all these three facts in this video from one of Purdue's recent football games.

As someone who has participated in multiple belly-flop contests, I am in awe of this cheerleader. Without the aid of a single diving board, she somehow launches herself high in the air and then lands with a perfect splat.

Belly-flopping in a pool causes a considerable amount of pain, so what happens when you land in a puddle that's only a couple of inches deep? You slam onto the ground at a high speed, that's what. Yet this brave cheerleader didn't hesitate when it came time to entertain her squad and thousands of fans.

The only negative aspect of the video is the presence of Purdue Pete. He's a prominent part of the action, waving his arms wildly and acting as though he had somehow commanded the cheerleader to do the belly-flop by using his "creepy mascot" powers.

We may never know what became of this high-flying cheerleader. But on a rainy day in Indiana, she cemented her spot in the eternal pantheon of cheerleader glory.
