THE HOME OFFICE — It is a very weird time. I don't even know where to begin, and I don't really have to. I mean, you're all living it as well as can be expected in this pandemic and know how bizarre things are.
For many of us who work full time, our jobs changed drastically about a year and a half ago. In March of 2020 my job sent me to go work from home for the next couple of weeks. Fast forward 19 months and I'm still in my basement office working 40 hours a week — sometimes with pants on; sometimes not.
I can't speak for any of you, but this work-from-home thing suits me pretty well. I know at some point I'll need to head back to the office, but I'm happy with my setup. I'm worried that when I stop working remotely my reaction will be a great deal like this video.
The satirical Flemish TV show "De ideale wereld" made the video of a little girl taking her dad to his first day of work. Usually, it's the parent convincing the child that going back to school will be fun, but the roles are reversed here and it hits hard. I personally feel for Steve from accounting.
The bit is hilarious, but it also makes me anxious as I think about commuting, conference rooms and putting quarters in a machine to get my snacks. Oh, and also wearing pants every day.
