SALT LAKE CITY — Two school-age children were critically injured when they were hit by an SUV Monday morning, police said.
About 7:58 a.m., investigators believe the eastbound 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the children while they were crossing the intersection at 400 South and Goshen Street, Salt Lake police said in a statement.
Both children were taken to a hospital. Their ages were not released.
The driver of the Jeep remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
"This is being investigated as a possible impaired driver crash," according to the statement.
No arrests have been made.
Police closed the road in thee area of 1040 W. 400 South for about three hours after the crash as an accident reconstruction team investigated.
