SALT LAKE CITY — Police have released the identity of a motorcyclist who died Friday in a crash that occurred on eastbound Route 201 at Redwood Road.

At about 8 p.m. Napoleon Sanchez-Guizada, 51, of West Valley City, was traveling on the Redwood Road offramp from state Route 201 when the rider tried to take the right split to southbound Redwood Road, according to a press release.

The motorcycle left the road at the left shoulder and traveled into the grassy area between the northbound and southbound exits. The motorcycle tumbled down the hill multiple times due to its high rate of speed, the release added.

Sanchez-Guizada was unable to be revived by medical personnel at the scene and was pronounced dead. Officials said he was wearing a helmet and other safety gear at the time of the crash.
